The Independent National Electoral Commission Has Registered Ten Thousand New Voters In Preparation of the gubernatorial Elections in Edo and Ondo states.
INEC Chairman Professor Mahmood Yakubu, who made the disclosure at the second quarterly meeting of the commission and resident electoral commissioners held in Abuja, said the number came from citizens From the states who turned eighteen years this year and others who relocated to the states.
He also announced that preparations are on top gear to ensure that elections in Edo and Ondo States are credible.
He said having concluded the continuous voter's registration for the polls, the commission is now verifying the figure and number of those registered to avoid duplication that are capable of derailing the process.
The meeting continued with an executive session after the chairman's remarks.
Expectedly Edo state resident electoral commissioner, Sam Olumekun was on ground to answer questions.
He corraborated chairman's claim of complete register inspite of few agitations.
