The Sultanate Council Advisory Committee has said that reports from the National and States Committees on Moon Sighting
reveal that the month of Shawwal was not sighted in any state of the country.
A statement signed by the Chairman of the Sultanate Council Advisory Committee, Prof. Sambo Wali Junaidu and issued to news men in Sokoto on Monday night said that “In no state was the moon sighted on July 4th 2016.
“As a result of this, the Sultan of Sokoto and President of the Supreme Council of Islamic Affairs (SCIA) in Nigeria has confirmed the legibility of the reports. The month of Ramadan will be 30 days. Therefore, Wednesday, July 6th 2016 is first day of Shawwal 1437 AH and Eid el-Fitr day,” the statement read.
