Woman finally regains freedom after 22 years behind the bars for a crime she didn't commit (Photos)

Image
42-years-old Tyra Patterson was convicted in 1994 for being an accomplice to murder because she witnessed her friend kill another girl. Patterson has now been released and was reunited with her family on Christmas Day after celebrities joined a long-running campaign to free her. According to report, she had always maintained her innocence after being convicted in the murder and robbery of 15-year-old Michelle Lai in Cleveland, Ohio. Patterson claims police forced her into confessing to a robbery she never committed, which opened her up to an aggravated murder conviction. She did not fire the shot that killed Lai, but under Ohio law accomplices can be handed the same punishment as killers. Patterson was finally allowed to walk free after 22 years behind the bars for a crime she didn't commit on Monday when she hugged family members and shouted: ‘Let’s eat and open gifts!’ http://feeds.feedburner.com/ItsKemiFilanisBlog

Akwa Ibom lawmaker called out for allowing an elderly woman kneel down for him (Photo)

Image
Rights activist, Inibehe Effiong has taken to Facebook to call out his state’s lawmaker, Monday Eyo for allowing an elderly woman kneel down for him. Here is what  Inibehe Effiong wrote... “Look at him, standing arrogantly like a little emperor with his hand in his pocket while a woman old enough to be his mother kneels before him in public, ostensibly begging for favour. Monday Eyo, a man that parades himself as a lawmaker in Akwa Ibom State. He is just an ordinary member of the House of Assembly. Imagine if this misfit of a lawmaker unfortunately becomes the governor or President one day. Honourable my foot. This is so disgusting. Akwa Ibom is in the hands of vagabonds, cultists and criminals. They have no mercy for the poor. Anyone that comes here to tell me that the woman knelt down on her own volition is an enemy of the people. SLAVES IN LOVE WITH THEIR CHAINS.” http://feeds.feedburner.com/ItsKemiFilanisBlog
