Rail Contracts: Reps Threaten To Arrest Non Complying Companies

The House of Representatives on Thursday threatened to issue a bench warrant of arrest to some companies if it fails to appear before a ad hoc committee investigating Rail contract between 2010 to 2014.
The Companies are Costain West Africa, Ansaldo, Gear Holdings, Ansaldo South Africa, Eser Contracting and Industry firm, Eser Nigeria Contracting Company limited and Eser West Africa Limited.
Chairman of the ad hoc committee, Johnson Agbonayinma while briefing journalists in Abuja said the companies listed above have either failed to appear to respond to the ad hoc committee.
"These companies named above are hereby ordered to appear before this ad hoc committee or it shall apply that a bench warrant be issued.
"It is pertinent to note that the call to investigate the rail contracts awarded and the contractors executing them is basically to ascertain the level of performance of these contracts viz a viz the monies expended by the contractors.
"Let me reiterate here that the mandate if this ad hoc committee as specified by the resolution of the House cannot be frustrated by any institution or group of persons, "he said.
