Minister of Communication, Adebayo Shittu again shun the House of Representatives' Committee on Communication over N330billion MTN Nigeria fine.
Recall that Shittu, Attorney General of the Federation and other parties involved in the initial negotiation on the N1.04trillion MTN Nigeria fine with the federal government had recently been summoned by the House Committee to explain reasons why legislative arm of government were not carried along before the agreed N330billion was made.
According to him, "the minister is not hear and NCC will not be able to face the questioning so I think going forward now is that we're trying to come up with our own report and submit to the House. Obviously we've had all written submissions from all parties and NCC had forwarded their submission to us and we believe they have done something because they're the regulator".
Explaining further, he said the Attorney General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami who was also absent communicated to the Committee that he had travelled to Lagos to represent president Muhammadu Buhari in an official assignment.
Though party in the likes of Nigeria Communication Commission(NCC) were present but could not be given the opportunity to speak. This may not be unconnected to their concurrence with the ministry of Communications on the issue.
However, the Committee went into a closed door session for further interaction.
