Legislators call for need of TSA
The House of Representatives has set up a 10 man Ad-hoc committee to laze with the Central Bank of Nigeria andother agencies of the government involved in the role of implementation of the Treasury Single Account.
The decision was made to ascertain the actual amount realized so far, government's plans on its spending and the various agencies from 8 such funds were obtained.
The resolution emanated from a motion titled "need to ascertain the proceeds of the treasury single account to enhance transparency accountability and good governance"
Lawmakers noted that the TSA Is a financial policy being implemented by the Federal Government to consolidate all inflows from Ministries, departments and agencies into one single account maintained by the Central Bank of Nigeria with the aim of ensuring accountability of government revenues.
It was however disclosed that the Minister of Finance,Kemi Adeosun as contained in the papers said a balance of 2.9 trillion naira has been accumulated so far.
Legislators said despite the laudable commitment of the current administration to combat corrupt practices some establishments are still left out.
The Ad-hoc committed would be chaired by member Abdullahi Ibrahim.
