Man allegedly rapes girl after promising her a ‘surprise gift’

Rape cases seem to be on the rise globallyAccording to reports, a 31-year-oldman identified as Damilola was arrested for sexually assaulting oneof his church members in Ojodu area of Lagos state.The 25-year-old victim identified as Favour, had invited Damilola to a birthday party being held in her honour. He reportedly told her thathe had a gift for her, and invited her over to his house in Otubor street, Omole Estate, Lagos, to receive it.

Favour was allegedly subdued and raped by Damilola, after beating herup. Here’s what a source said below:“Damilola and the lady were churchfriends. The lady had her birthday on Tuesday, July 19, and she invitedall youths in the church who were her friends. Damilola, however, did not come. He, thereafter, called herto apologise and promised to make it up. On the following Sunday, Damilola called her that he had set up a makeup party and that the two were going to a restaurant. However, he took her to his house in the estate, and locked her up. He beat her up and raped her.”Damilola was arrested after the victim laid a complaint at the Ojodupolice station and the Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Response Team, Alausa. The coordinator, Lola Vivour-Adeniyi, confirmed Favour has undergone some tests at the Mirabel center, Ikeja.Confirming Damilola’s arrest, Lagosstate Police Public Relations Officer, SP Dolapo Badmos, said the case is currently at the genderunit of the police.
